Residents - Below is some information to clarify the
events surrounding the fire in Silver Lakes. You may also want to read -
9-1-1 calls in the Jefferson County parts
of Helena. A cell phone
call was placed concerning the fire and was received by Jefferson County
9-1-1 at 12:07:42 - the caller stated the fire was in the city of
Bessemer so Jefferson County transferred the caller to Bessemer at 12:07:59.
Bessemer indicated they would dispatch the fire department at 12:09:22.
Shelby County 9-1-1 received the first call
about the fire at 12:10:16 from another home in Silver Lakes. We dispatched
Helena Fire department at 12:10:24 and the first Helena Fire Truck arrived
at 12:17:47. Had the initial call been transferred to Shelby 9-1-1, we could
have notified Helena Fire approximately 2 minutes and 17 seconds earlier.
